Expedition – style racing adventures in small human and wind powered boats. That’s what Water Tribe is all about. Every year rowers, paddlers, and sailors take to the water in four events – The Water Tribe Challenge.
The Everglades Challenge is the biggest of the races, Fort Desoto to Key Largo Florida – 300 miles in 8 days (hopefully!) The 2015 race begins this Saturday March 7th.
Shaw & Tenney has made many custom oars, paddles, and sculling oars for competitors in all kinds of boats over the years.
All who complete the race and those winning each class receive a handmade Shaw & Tenney award paddle. It's an honor for us to be a part of this incredible race, and we are pleased to help Chief Steve Isaac make the Everglades Challenge a phenomenal success each year.
"The purpose of Water Tribe is to encourage the development of boats, equipment, skills and human athletic performance for safe and efficient coastal cruising using minimal impact human and wind powered watercraft based on sea kayaks, canoes, and small sailboats." ~ Chief, February 2000
"A life changing experience!" ~ Heard many times.
Shaw & Tenney is hoping to enter a boat in the race next year. How about you?
