Shaw & Tenney is committed to hand-crafting the world’s finest wooden oars and paddles. Through its 165 years of operation the company has been shepherded by three families. Since 2003, Steve Holt and Nancy Forster-Holt have navigated Shaw & Tenney through a transition to digital commerce and growth while maintaining the exceptional quality of the products.
This July, a fourth family has taken over stewardship of this iconic Maine brand. Please welcome Neil and Jennifer Gutekunst as they embark on their journey as owners of the second-oldest manufacturer of marine products in the United States. Neil and Jennifer own two other woodworking companies in Maine and are honored to continue building the Shaw & Tenney legacy.
The craftsmen who put their heart and soul into making Shaw & Tenney products are excited about the future of the company. Shaw & Tenney will continue to make products in Orono, just as they have since 1858 - to last a lifetime.
